SMALL HANDGUNS GROWING IN POPULARITY

As more and more people grow concerned about home-defense and self-protection, small handguns are increasing in popularity. Ownership of subcompacts is on the rise for personal safety. A portion of these owners are women.

According to Gallup poll data, the percentage of American women who own a firearm nearly doubled from 2005-11, rising from 13% to 23%. More women are taking part in target shooting and hunting, but personal safety is the main reason why women become interested in guns.

Many women who own firearms choose the smaller, sub-compact models for the ease of handling and carry. Subcompacts are lightweight and easy to carry on person or in a pack or purse.

Tactical lights can help make these firearms safer and more dependable for personal protection. That's why Streamlight is expanding its line of tactical lights for subcompacts. In addition to the TLR-3®, TLR-4®, TLR-4® G, and existing TLR-6® models, we recently introduced additional models of the TLR-6® to fit handguns from the following brands: Smith & Wesson® Shield™, Glock®, Kahr® Arms, SIG SAUER®, and the Kimber®. The TLR-6 housing now fits more than 18 different sub-compact handguns.
