Fire Vulcan® LED is a Powerful Tool Both on Land and on Sea

Streamlight®’s Fire Vulcan® LED rechargeable lantern with C4® LED technology and special reflector optics is one of the brightest rechargeable lanterns ever made. Five times brighter than its closest competitor, the Fire Vulcan LED also weighs just 1.85 pounds – nearly 50 percent lighter than the halogen version, making it a clear favorite with firefighters and other first responders.

But the lantern also is growing in popularity with both recreational and commercial boaters for the same reasons. The Marine Units of the Philadelphia Fire Department, for example, use the Fire Vulcan LED aboard the fire boats that provide emergency service and port security to all port inhabitants, vessels, and structures.

"The Fire Vulcan LED is an extremely versatile light for marine applications because of its rechargeability, extreme brightness and compact size," explained Loring Grove, Streamlight Director of Marketing. "Not only is it waterproof to one meter for 30 minutes, it delivers up to 80,000 candela peak beam intensity, so it’s ideal for illuminating the shoreline, a dock, or other boats, and, in the case of a water rescue, the waters surrounding a boat," she said. "And because it is safety rated for Class 1, Division 2 environments, it also can be used safely on deck, to inspect a boat engine or other machinery, for example."

She added that the lantern also features two ultra-bright blue rear tail lights, enabling users to be seen no matter which direction the light is shining, and eight programmable operating modes, which can be used for a variety of signaling purposes. The light uses two lightweight lithium Ion nanotechnology cell batteries, fits all existing Streamlight Vulcan chargers and recharges in five hours.
