"Firefighters Who Were 100 Yards Away Said
They Saw That Light Through The Smoke."
Two years ago, I was involved in a major warehouse fire here in Knoxville, TN. I sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns in what arson investigators later estimated to be +1100° fire. During an attempt to slide down a charged fire hose to safety, I fell four stories onto a concrete sidewalk, breaking my back.
I am happy to say that I survived that fire and am still serving the City of Knoxville.
My Streamlight® Survivor® lived up to its name and also made it through the fire. It's not very pretty to look at (like me), but it can still do the job. It survived temperatures in excess of 1,100 degrees (which melted the faceplate of my airpack and trashed my helmet and bunker gear) and a four-story fall onto concrete. Before bailing out, I used the Survivor to signal my position from a window that was pouring dense black smoke. Firefighters a hundred yards away said they saw that light through the smoke from the window.
I just wanted to thank you for making such a tough light.
