Streamlight® Approach to Quality Earns ISO 9001 Certification It's no secret that Streamlight's commitment to uncompromising quality in its product manufacturing has made it a recognized leader in premium portable lighting solutions. But what customers may not know is that this commitment to excellence has earned Streamlight ISO 9001: 2000 Certification -- the world standard for quality system excellence. It's customers' assurance that Streamlight consistently meets rigorous standards for maintaining a quality management system for producing products that satisfy customers' expectations. ISO 9001 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by independent accreditation and certification bodies. To earn this certification, Streamlight® must meet six major requirements on an ongoing basis. They include: implementing a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business monitoring processes to ensure they are effective keeping adequate records checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness facilitating continual improvement As part of the ISO 9001 process, Streamlight conducts its own internal audit of each key business processes at least once annually, and also participates in regular independent audits to maintain its certification. "The objective of these audits is a continual process of review and assessment, to verify that the our systems are working the way they're supposed to, find out where we can improve and to correct or prevent problems identified," explained Richard Trout, Streamlight's ISO Coordinator and lead internal auditor. Steamlight also is required to audit the suppliers who do business with the company, many of which also adhere to ISO 9001 standards, he added. "Our ISO 9001 certification should give our customers a very high degree of confidence in Streamlight products, because everything we do is very closely monitored to ensure that we maintain the highest levels of quality," said Trout. "ISO 9001 gives us a systematic approach to managing our processes so that we can consistently turn out products that not only satisfy but exceed our customers' expectations."
