STREAMLIGHT® LAUNCHES VANTAGE® HELMET LIGHT
Ultra-Lightweight LED Tactical Light Uses Power LED to Deliver 80 Lumens
EAGLEVILLE, PA — June 19, 2008 — Streamlight®, Inc., a leading flashlight manufacturer for fire and rescue uses, has introduced the Vantage®, a compact, low-profile tactical flashlight that attaches easily to full-brim fire helmets. The new hands-free light features new C4® power LED technology which produces two to three times the output of Super High Flux LEDs and a special safety tail light so firefighters can be followed in even the thickest smoke.
The Vantage is specially designed to attach snuggly and securely above or below fire helmets — both modern and traditional — through the use of a swivel clamp so it won’t snag or get in the way. The new light also features an ultra-bright blue safety tail light that enables firefighters and rescue workers to be seen in smoke-filled rooms, blackout conditions and other emergency situations regardless of which direction the light is shining.
"Vantage's compact size and tail-light feature, in combination with its powerful C4 LED, make it the perfect tactical hands-free light for firefighting personnel and other first responders who require lighting tools with extreme brightness and long run times," said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer Ray Sharrah. "Its integrated brac-ket design makes it extremely easy to use — firefighters can attach or remove the light in seconds without the need for tools, and rotate it 360 degrees on the swivel clamp."
Sharrah said the Vantage features a light intensity of up to 4,500 candela (peak central intensity) and 80 lumens total system output for six hours of continuous runtime to the 10% output level. The light's textured parabolic reflector produces a smooth beam hotspot with optimum side illumination to aid in navigation. It includes a 470 nanometer Ultra-bright blue tail light LED with a 100,000 hour lifetime. It uses two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries, and is operated using a dual direction, On-Off switch located at the rear of the light which can be operated even with heavy gloves. The Vantage weighs a mere 5.14 ounces.
Featuring a body constructed of 6000 series machined aluminum, the Vantage features a high-impact, chemically resistant engineering polymer LED housing, and a lens that is made of high-temperature, shock-mounted and impact-resistant Boro Float glass. The IPX7 rated design is waterproof to one meter for 30 minutes. The Vantage, which retails for $195, comes with Streamlight's "Limited-Lifetime" Warranty.
